Should greatness be the aim, or simplicity? Are the two mutually exclusive or can they go hand-in-hand? I guess it all comes down to defining what they are, which begs the question about what definition are we going to adhere to. For me personally, and it’s what I explore in the poem, greatness links with success, which is something that will differ from person to person. However, objectively, I base my understanding on the Qur’an and Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him), which direct towards the idea that success and greatness is linked to Taqwa (God consciousness). Taqwa then dictates our affairs to make us kinder, more humble people out of love for God and His Creation.
